***Important Call to Action from the National Hydrologic Warning Council***

A request has been made to the Federal Communications Commission for shared access to the 1675-1680 MHZ radio spectrum between terrestrial mobile and federal uses.  The National Hydrologic Warning Council strongly encourages our member organizations to review FCC Notice RM-11681, as well as to write and submit comments directly to the FCC.  Instructions for doing so can be found below.

Written Comments are due by June 21, 2016.

The FCC Public Notice includes instructions for submitting written comments on page 9 of the notice. We recommend filing electronically using their Electronic Comment Filing System (ECFS) at http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs/Click on the “Submit a Filing:” link on the FCC ECFS webpage. Use RM-11681 as the Proceeding Number.

I strongly encourage your agency, organization, or company to send the FCC comments on this critically important issue. For back ground see the attached two page Fact Sheet written for the weather community, a copy of the NHWC letter to the FCC dated March 18, 2016 submitted prior to the April 22, 2106 Notice, and a Template for NHWC Non-Federal Members that you can use as first draft. The NHWC will prepare and submit a specific letter to cover this request.
