Membership in NHWC gives agencies, companies, and individuals the opportunity to learn and respond to national policy issues related to hydrologic warning.
Hydrologic warning is a multi-disciplinary, but highly specialized, field of study. Because of this focus, not many official training avenues exist, requiring on-the-job training. The NHWC Education Committee facilitates targeted online and workshop training available especially for NHWC members to train field technicians, hydrologists, and program managers. Members receive priority access to all training/continuing education opportunities.
The NHWC hosts a bi-annual major conference which provide members the opportunity to hear technical papers on various aspects of hydrologic warning, exchange information, promote agency successes, and broaden professional contacts.
TECHNICAL WORKSHOPS/FIELD TRIPS
The NHWC provides technical workshops and/or field trips usually in conjunction with the NHWC conference to facilitate on-hands training with instrumentation and field techniques.
NHWC members will receive reduced fees for conferences, workshops, field trips, training, advertising, and booth registrations.
