EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S OFFICE
Former Federal Hydrologic Service Manager selected for National Hydrologic Warning Council position
The National Hydrologic Warning Council (NHWC), a nonprofit, public safety organization, announced the selection of Mr. Glenn Austin as their first Executive Director in March 2009.
The NHWC Board of Directors created the Executive Director position to help provide continuity, strategic planning and direction for the organization. “The ability for us to move forward with this position is a direct result of the organization’s expanding membership and support from corporate sponsorship,” says Kevin Stewart, NHWC President. The new position will help evolve NHWC from a completely volunteer organization to one with a part-time paid workforce devoted to maintaining and growing the organization.
Glenn retired from federal service in October 2008 after spending nearly 30 years with the National Weather Service (NWS). “Glenn is well-respected throughout the hydrologic warning community. His final post as Chief of the NWS Hydrologic Services Division, along with his wealth of experience and professional contacts, makes Glenn the ideal pick for this new position.” Stewart said.
The Executive Director is the liaison between the NHWC and its many affiliate organizations to help further the partnerships in hydrologic warning. Within NHWC, the Executive Director's office oversees the membership development of the organization, all public communications, web presence, and outreach functions, and is the liaison between the Board of Directors and the Executive Program Committee.
